In the Nation's Capital
HOLY REDEEMER ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH is a “prophetic” presence and voice in the central urban area of Washington, DC. This parish church was founded in 1919 and opened in 1922 to promote, enhance and further evangelize the African-American population of the inner city area and surrounding neighborhoods. The church’s mission has promoted and continues to strengthen the Catholic Church’s outreach of evangelization in urban life through the celebrating and witnessing of African-American Catholic spirituality, Faith-Formation and social justice advocacy.
